29 tests from £49, explained in person

Many of the symptoms women bring to us, such as tiredness, irregular or heavy periods, hot flushes, low mood, hair thinning or difficulty conceiving, can have several possible causes. A blood test does not give a diagnosis on its own, but it can show whether hormones, iron, thyroid function or blood sugar are part of the picture, and it gives you something clear to discuss with a practitioner or your GP.

At Omnia Lifestyle in Chiswick, your sample is taken at our clinic at Bedford Corner on The Avenue, a short walk from Turnham Green station, and analysed at the Randox accredited laboratory. You do not need a GP referral. Most results are back within a few working days, and a practitioner explains every result with you in person, with a GP feedback report available on request.

Below you will find every women's health test we offer, grouped by need and listed from the lowest price in each group. Timing matters for some hormone tests, so we will advise the best day in your cycle when you book. Not sure where to start? Call us on 020 4515 0000.

Questions

How much does a women's health blood test cost in Chiswick?

Prices start at £49 for single tests such as oestradiol, progesterone, FSH, ferritin or DHEA-S. Focused panels cover several markers at once, such as the Hormone Health Check at £69 and the Fertility Panel at £159. The Complete Woman costs £299 and is our fullest women's health check. Every price includes your sample, laboratory analysis, a practitioner review and a GP report on request.

Do I need a blood test to confirm the menopause?

Not usually. NICE guidance says perimenopause and menopause can be recognised from symptoms in otherwise healthy women aged 45 or over, without blood tests. An FSH test may be considered from 40 to 45 if you have symptoms, including a change in your cycle, or under 40 if early menopause is suspected. Some contraception affects FSH results. Testing can still help rule out other causes, such as thyroid problems.

Can a blood test tell me if I have PCOS?

No single blood test diagnoses PCOS. The NHS explains that diagnosis usually involves blood tests to check hormone levels and insulin resistance, and sometimes an ultrasound scan, alongside your symptoms. Testosterone, SHBG and the free androgen index show whether androgen levels are raised, which helps your practitioner or GP rule out other causes and decide on next steps.

What does an AMH test tell me?

AMH is a hormone made by the small follicles in the ovaries, so it gives an estimate of your remaining egg reserve. It is most useful when planning fertility treatment or thinking about egg freezing. It does not, on its own, tell you whether you can conceive naturally, so your practitioner will always discuss the result in context. Our AMH test costs £99.

When in my cycle should I have a hormone test?

It depends on the hormone and the question you want answered. Some hormones, such as progesterone, are most useful at a particular point in the cycle, and the right day depends on how regular your periods are. Hormonal contraception can also change results. Tell us about your cycle and any medicines when you book, and we will advise the best day for your test.

Do I need a GP referral, and will my GP see my results?

You do not need a GP referral. You book directly with us, and a practitioner explains your results with you once they are back, usually within a few working days. If you would like your GP to see them, we can provide a GP feedback report on request. If anything needs medical follow-up, we will tell you clearly and recommend that you see your GP.
