Men's health, Chiswick W4
Testosterone, PSA, cholesterol and blood sugar: our men's health blood tests in Chiswick show how you are really doing, whether you have symptoms or simply want a yearly check. Prices start at £49, no GP referral is needed and a practitioner explains every result in person.
Many common health problems in men, such as raised cholesterol, high blood sugar or low testosterone, cause few clear symptoms at first. A blood test will not diagnose a condition on its own, but it shows where things stand and gives you clear, practical points to discuss with a practitioner or your GP, whether you are dealing with low energy, low libido, urinary symptoms or simply want a baseline.
At Omnia Lifestyle in Chiswick, your sample is taken at our clinic at Bedford Corner on The Avenue, a short walk from Turnham Green station, and analysed at the Randox accredited laboratory. You do not need a GP referral. Most results are back within a few working days, and a practitioner explains every result with you in person, with a GP feedback report available on request.
Tests are grouped below by need and listed from the lowest price in each group. Testosterone is best measured from a morning sample, so we will suggest an early appointment when you book. Not sure which test suits you? Call us on 020 4515 0000.
From a single testosterone test to a full hormone panel, for low energy, low libido, erection problems or monitoring testosterone treatment.
PSA tests for men who have talked through the pros and cons of testing, have urinary symptoms or have a family history.
Cholesterol and wider heart risk markers, useful from your 40s or if heart disease runs in your family.
HbA1c, insulin and related markers for weight around the middle, energy dips or a family history of type 2 diabetes.
Broad yearly screens across blood count, heart, liver, kidneys and thyroid, with testosterone and PSA in The Complete Man.
Prices start at £49 for a single testosterone or SHBG test. A PSA test costs £59, the Testosterone Check Plus £79 and the Heart Health panel £89. The Complete Man, which includes testosterone, PSA, heart, diabetes, liver, kidney and thyroid markers, costs £299, and our most detailed male hormone screen is £399. Every price includes a practitioner review and a GP report on request.
PSA testing is a personal choice. Prostate Cancer UK says men over 50 can ask their GP about it, and recommends speaking to your GP from 45 if you are Black or have a family history of prostate cancer. PSA can also rise with an enlarged prostate, infection, recent ejaculation or vigorous exercise, so a raised result is not a diagnosis. Our practitioner will talk through the pros and cons first.
Book a morning appointment for testosterone, ideally before 11am, because levels vary through the day and a fasting sample is often preferred. For PSA, the NHS advises avoiding ejaculation, anal sex, vigorous exercise and cycling for 48 hours beforehand, and waiting 4 to 6 weeks after a urine infection has cleared before testing.
Yes. Movember, every November, is a good reminder to check in on your health, and many men use it as the prompt to book a yearly check. The Complete Man covers testosterone, PSA, cholesterol, blood sugar, liver, kidney and thyroid in one visit. If you want a simpler starting point, the Cholesterol and HbA1c Check costs £59.
A single low result does not confirm low testosterone. NHS laboratory guidance recommends repeating the test on a fasting morning sample, and a level below the range on two occasions supports the diagnosis. Your practitioner may also look at SHBG, free testosterone, LH and FSH to understand the cause, and will suggest seeing your GP or a specialist if treatment may be needed.
You do not need a GP referral. You book directly with us, and a practitioner explains your results with you once they are back, usually within a few working days. If you would like your GP to see them, we can provide a GP feedback report on request. If anything needs medical follow-up, we will tell you clearly and recommend that you see your GP.
These tests do not replace care from your GP. If you have worsening symptoms, unexplained weight loss, bleeding or severe pain, please see a doctor first. For chest pain or signs of a stroke, call 999.
