Why 40 is a good time for a health check

Many long-term conditions build slowly and without symptoms. The NHS offers a free NHS Health Check every five years to eligible adults aged 40 to 74 in England, focused on heart and diabetes risk. A private check adds more markers, at a time that suits you, with every result in one report.

What we suggest checking after 40

  • Heart: cholesterol, triglycerides and, once in your life, Lipoprotein (a).
  • Blood sugar: HbA1c, to spot prediabetes early.
  • Liver and kidney function.
  • A full blood count, iron and vitamin D.
  • Thyroid function.
  • For women: hormones around the perimenopause.
  • For men: testosterone, and PSA after a conversation about what a PSA result can and cannot tell you.

Checks and prices

Every price includes the blood draw, laboratory analysis by Randox and your results report. GP feedback and GP consultations are available on request, at an extra cost. Appointments only.

Over 50?

The same checks suit you, and the wider panels add more heart, hormone and bone markers. Women after the menopause may also like our well woman check, and men our male hormone tests.

Preparing for your check

Fasting for 8 to 12 hours, water only, is needed for tests that include cholesterol or glucose. Hormone and single tests usually need no fasting. We confirm what applies to you when you book, and offer early appointments for fasting tests. We see clients by appointment only.

Omnia Health Checks

Why Omnia

A clinic, not a testing kiosk.

The value of a blood test is in what happens after the numbers arrive. At Omnia, your results become a plan.

  • A clear results report. Every marker set out in plain language: what is in range, what is borderline and what is worth rechecking.
  • Joined-up care. Results can inform acupuncture, Ayurveda, physiotherapy or nutrition care here, or a referral to your GP.
  • Honest about what testing is. A result outside the range is a prompt, not a diagnosis. If anything needs a doctor, we say so and give you the report.
  • Close to Turnham Green station. District line, with Piccadilly line trains early in the morning and late in the evening only. Limited parking is available on request when booking.

Testing is carried out in partnership with Randox Clinical Laboratory Services, an ISO/IEC 15189 accredited laboratory (UKAS Lab ID 9329). Where a panel has female and male versions, the difference is mainly the hormone and tumour marker selection. All prices include the blood draw, laboratory analysis and your results report. GP feedback and GP consultations are available on request, at an extra cost.

These tests do not replace care from your GP. If you have worsening symptoms, unexplained weight loss, bleeding or severe pain, please see a doctor first.
