Book at our Chiswick clinic
LPG Endermologie
Search for the best cellulite treatment and you will find every clinic and device calling itself the answer. We offer one of these treatments ourselves, LPG Endermologie, so you should read this knowing that. We have tried to be fair by comparing treatment types against the published evidence, naming no clinics and showing where our own treatment has weaker support than others.
Prefer to talk it through? Your first LPG Endermologie visit is a 60-minute Discovery Session for £99, including a consultation and a full treatment. Book online or call 020 4515 0000.
Quick answer
There is no single best cellulite treatment, and none is permanent. Shockwave, radiofrequency and injected enzyme treatments have the most promising trial evidence, and subcision targets deep dimples. LPG Endermologie, offered by Omnia Lifestyle in Chiswick W4, has mixed evidence but suits people who want no needles, heat or downtime.
What is the best cellulite treatment?
It depends on what your cellulite looks like, how much you want to change it and what you will accept in cost, needles and maintenance. A systematic review published in Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in 2025 covered 24 randomised trials and 2,084 patients. It found that shockwave therapy, radiofrequency and collagenase injections showed promising results, and rated the overall quality of evidence as moderate. An older assessment from 2008 concluded that no treatment was more than mildly and temporarily effective. Cleveland Clinic still says you cannot completely get rid of cellulite. Any treatment that promises otherwise deserves your scepticism.
Best cellulite therapy by evidence level
The labels below are our plain-English reading of the sources at the end of this guide. Moderate means randomised trials with reasonably consistent results. Mixed means trials disagree. Low means small studies or temporary effects. None means no good evidence of lasting benefit.
| Treatment type | Evidence level | What is involved | May suit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shockwave or acoustic wave | Moderate | Repeat sessions. One meta-analysis counted 5 randomised trials with 123 women | People who want a non-invasive device |
| Radiofrequency | Moderate | Repeat sessions of heat to the skin | People happy with heat-based treatment |
| Collagenase injections | Moderate | A medicine injected into dimples by a medical practitioner. Ask whether the product is licensed and available in the UK | Defined dimples on the buttocks or thighs |
| Subcision | Moderate for dimples | A minor procedure that releases the bands under each dimple. Some recovery | Deeper, distinct dimples |
| Mechanical suction massage (LPG Endermologie) | Mixed | A course of sessions plus maintenance. No needles, heat or downtime | Orange-peel texture; people who want a gentle option |
| Laser and light | Low to moderate | Device sessions or a laser procedure. Many results are temporary | Best discussed with a dermatologist |
| Manual massage | Low | Temporary improvement, partly from moving fluid | Short-term smoothing |
| Retinol cream | Low | 0.3% retinol daily for at least six months | Mild cellulite, low budget |
| Caffeine cream | Low | Daily use. Effect is short-lived | Short-term skin tightening |
| Strength training, steady weight | Low, but low risk | Two or more sessions a week for two to three months | Everyone, alongside anything else |
| Dry brushing, hand rollers, wraps | None | Home use | Enjoyment, not results |
Which cellulite treatment suits which person?
- Deep, distinct dimples. The cause is mainly the bands under the skin, so a procedure that targets them is more likely to help than anything on the surface. Speak to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
- Orange-peel texture, no needles wanted. A device treatment or LPG Endermologie is a reasonable place to start.
- Mild cellulite, tight budget. Start with strength work and retinol, then reassess after three to six months.
- Fluid or heavy legs as well. Lymphatic work or compression may help. Compare them in MLD vs compression vs LPG.
- Painful legs that bruise easily. This may not be cellulite at all. Read lipoedema vs cellulite and see your GP.
How good is the evidence for LPG Endermologie?
Mixed, and we would rather say so. A randomised trial from 1999, published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, found that only 10 of 35 LPG-treated legs improved on patients' own assessment, and its authors did not believe the treatment was effective. A small study of 33 women in 2009 found significant change in circumference, but only 5 women showed visibly improved cellulite. The authors called it mildly effective for cellulite grade.
More recent work is more favourable. A 2025 narrative review of 24 studies concluded that endermologie can be an effective adjunct therapy, and noted that results seem to depend on the number of sessions and on maintenance. It also said that the lack of large, long-term trials limits what can be concluded. LPG Systems' BeScored study from 2024 reported that 93% of participants noticed smoother orange-peel skin, but this is manufacturer data. Our guide to what the research says goes through the studies.
Where does LPG fit, and when is it not the best choice?
LPG is one option, not the best one for everyone. It can suit you if you want an appearance-focused treatment that also feels like a deep massage, with no needles, heat or downtime, and you are happy to commit to a course with maintenance. It is less likely to satisfy you if you have deep dimples or want one treatment and no follow-up.
At Omnia we use the Cellu M6 Infinity. The Discovery Session is £99 for 60 minutes, and follow-up sessions are 35 minutes for £70, 45 minutes for £90, 50 minutes for £100 and 60 minutes for £120. Most people notice change after 6 to 8 sessions, and stubborn or fibrous cellulite takes around 10 to 12, with a weekly course then monthly maintenance. Results vary, and no treatment is permanent. What should you ask before paying for any cellulite treatment?
- What is the evidence, and was it paid for by the manufacturer?
- How many sessions will I need, and what happens if I stop?
- Are the before and after photographs your own clients?
- What are the risks, and who treats me if something goes wrong?
- Is liposuction being suggested? BAAPS says it does not treat cellulite.
Who should avoid LPG Endermologie?
- LPG Endermologie is not used on the abdomen in pregnancy.
- It is not suitable with active cancer, an infection, phlebitis or a blood clot, open wounds or inflamed skin.
- If you have a circulatory or blood disorder, recent surgery, a pacemaker or an implanted device, get advice from your doctor or surgeon first.
- See your GP for a diagnosis if you have unexplained swelling, pain or skin change.
Frequently asked questions
What is the most effective treatment for cellulite?
No single treatment is proven best. The strongest recent trial evidence is for shockwave, radiofrequency and collagenase, while subcision targets deep dimples.
Does anything permanently get rid of cellulite?
No. Results fade without maintenance, and new cellulite can form as skin ages.
Is LPG better than radiofrequency for cellulite?
We know of no good head-to-head trials, and a 2025 review noted that comparative studies are missing. Radiofrequency currently has more supportive trial evidence.
Do cellulite creams work?
Retinol may help a little after six months. Caffeine creams give short-term tightening. Neither changes the bands beneath the skin.
What is the best cellulite treatment at home?
Strength training and steady weight, with retinol if you are patient. Our guide to how to get rid of cellulite has the detail.
