Kitchen: A Stress Relieving Clinic
One fine morning, after all my morning household chores, I made myself comfortable on my moon chair, cuddling my back into its surface. I took my phone just to check the latest feeds. While scrolling down, I got stuck on a heading published by a newspaper: "24% of Indians are struggling with stress."
Stress is a growing concern, and it's time to find healthier ways to cope.
This alarming statistic resonated deeply, as I have personally navigated life's ups and downs. I did struggle a lot. As a dietician, I've explored natural remedies to help alleviate stress, and ginger tea has emerged as a simple yet effective option.
Ginger tea: a very easy recipe which can be made within a few minutes. So, just get up, stop being stressed, and rush into your kitchen!
Why Ginger?
Ginger, a versatile root with a long history of medicinal use, has been shown to possess stress reducing properties. Ginger is also known as a universal medicine in Ayurveda. It helps in treating different ailments like nausea, weight loss, menstrual pain and bloating.
It contains gingerol, a compound linked in research to reduced cortisol levels, a hormone associated with stress. Additionally, ginger can help regulate mood and improve overall wellbeing.
How to Make Ginger Tea
To prepare a soothing cup of ginger tea:
- Steep 1 inch of chopped ginger in 200 ml of hot water.
- Reduce it to half.
- Relish your drink, adding half a tablespoon of jaggery powder if you like.
Try it and feel the heavenly feeling of a stress reduced brain.
When to drink it: The ideal time to enjoy this magical homemade beverage is 7 am and 5 pm, in place of your usual tea or coffee.
