The short version

What is the best treatment for bingo wings?

Quick answer. It depends on what is under the arm. Exercise builds the triceps, non-surgical treatment such as LPG Endermologie at Omnia Lifestyle in Chiswick W4 can firm mild to moderate loose skin over a course, and an arm lift removes hanging skin. Most people notice change after 6 to 8 sessions, and results vary.
What you are treating

What are bingo wings, and what is under yours?

Bingo wings is the everyday name for soft or loose tissue under the upper arm. The right answer depends on what that tissue is, and many people have a mix.

Mostly muscle tone

The arm looks soft, but the skin still springs back when pinched. Exercise is the best first step.

Soft or crepey skin

Loose skin on the arms is thin and slow to tighten on its own. This is where arm skin tightening with LPG fits best.

Hanging skin

A fold that hangs between the armpit and elbow. Only surgery removes it, and non-surgical treatment will not change that.

Is it something else? If both arms are heavy, tender and bruise easily, ask your GP about lipoedema. Read our page on lipoedema treatment.
Exercise

Do exercises get rid of bingo wings? Muscle, yes. Skin, no

Bingo wing exercises work the triceps, the muscle at the back of the upper arm. Press-ups, dips and dumbbell or overhead extensions all build it, and a firmer muscle gives the arm a better shape. It is worth starting there, whatever else you decide.

What exercise cannot do is shrink stretched skin. You also cannot choose where your body loses fat, so arm workouts alone will not target fat on the arm.

If you have been training consistently and the skin still looks loose, muscle is probably not the problem. That is when a skin treatment or a surgical opinion makes more sense than more exercise.

Comparing options

Surgery

Bingo wing surgery: cost, scars and recovery

If hanging skin is your main concern, surgery is the honest route, and we will say so.

A bingo wings operation is called a brachioplasty, or arm lift. The British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons says it treats excess tissue from the armpit to the elbow, under a general anaesthetic, usually in one to two hours with one or two nights in hospital.

The trade-off is the scar. It sits on the inner arm and may extend onto the side of the chest. You also wear compression garments for the first few weeks.

We could not find an official UK figure for bingo wings surgery cost. Cosmetic surgery is not usually available on the NHS, so expect to pay privately, typically several thousand pounds. Ask for a written quote that includes consultations and aftercare, and check the surgeon on the General Medical Council register and the hospital with the Care Quality Commission.

How we treat it

Non-surgical bingo wings treatment with LPG

The aim is firmer, smoother skin. It will not remove loose skin or replace strength training.

  • The treatment. Motorised rollers and controlled suction on the Cellu M6 Infinity work on the skin and tissue of the upper arm, with intensity set for thinner skin. There are no needles, heat or downtime.
  • The course. Most people notice change after 6 to 8 sessions, usually weekly, then monthly to maintain results. No treatment is permanent.
  • The cost. £99 for your 60-minute Discovery Session, then follow-ups from £70 for 35 minutes. Follow-up length depends on the areas treated.
  • Other areas. Arms can share a session with the stomach, thighs or neck.
What the evidence says. We found no independent trial of LPG on the upper arms specifically, and evidence for LPG overall is mixed. Read what the research says. We do not show bingo wings before and after images on this page. Your therapist will tell you what is realistic for your arms.
Your first visit

Your Discovery Session: 60 minutes, £99

  1. Consultation. Your goals, your health history, any medication and what you have already tried.
  2. Assessment. Skin quality, priority areas and measurements, with photographs and a Styku 3D scan where useful, so progress is measured rather than guessed.
  3. A full treatment. Not a demonstration. You change into the Endermowear body suit and have a proper session, face, body or both.
  4. An honest plan. What is realistic, roughly how many sessions it would take, and whether LPG suits you at all.

Most people come weekly for a course, then monthly to maintain results. See how many Endermologie sessions you need.

  • Discovery Session with consultation and full treatment, 60 min£99

  • Follow-up session, 45 min£90
  • Follow-up session, 50 min£100

Who this is not for

When LPG is not the right choice

You have hanging skin

LPG cannot remove bingo wings. Removal of hanging skin needs surgery, so speak to a plastic surgeon first.

Your weight is still changing

Skin responds better once your weight has settled. Keep up your strength work, and come back when things are stable.

You have swelling, pain or a lump

See your GP first for swelling in one arm, pain, a lump or a skin change. These need checking before any treatment.

LPG is not used with active cancer, infection, phlebitis or a blood clot, open wounds or inflamed skin. With a circulatory or blood disorder, recent surgery, a pacemaker or an implanted device, get your doctor's or surgeon's advice first.

How much is bingo wing surgery in the UK?

We could not find an official UK figure. Cosmetic surgery is not usually available on the NHS, so expect to pay privately, typically several thousand pounds. Ask for a written quote that includes consultations and aftercare.

Can you get rid of bingo wings without surgery?

You can improve them, but you cannot remove hanging skin without surgery. Strength training builds the muscle, and a course of LPG can help firm mild to moderate loose skin.

What are the best exercises for bingo wings?

Exercises that work the triceps, such as press-ups, dips and dumbbell or overhead extensions. They build muscle and improve the shape of the arm, but they do not tighten stretched skin.

How many sessions will I need for my arms?

Most people notice change after 6 to 8 sessions, usually weekly, then monthly to maintain results. Your therapist gives you an honest estimate after assessing your skin. Results vary.

Does a bingo wings operation leave a scar?

Yes. An arm lift leaves a scar on the inner arm, which may extend onto the side of the chest. Ask your surgeon to show you where it will sit before you decide.

Can you get bingo wings removed on the NHS?

Cosmetic surgery is not usually available on the NHS. If excess skin is causing rashes or other problems, ask your GP what your options are.

Can LPG treat cellulite on my arms?

Yes. The Cellu M6 Infinity treats the arms as well as the thighs and stomach, and it improves the appearance of cellulite rather than removing it for good. See our cellulite treatment page.
