Private blood test, Chiswick W4
Tissue transglutaminase (tTG) antibody testing for coeliac disease, analysed by Randox and explained to you by a practitioner.
Our Coeliac Antibody Check measures tissue transglutaminase antibodies of both IgA and IgG types. These antibodies are made when gluten triggers the immune reaction behind coeliac disease. Testing both types helps in people who naturally make little IgA, where an IgA test alone can miss coeliac disease.
A coeliac genetic test is also available. A negative result for the HLA-DQ2 and DQ8 genes makes coeliac disease very unlikely.
The price includes the blood draw at our clinic, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory (ISO/IEC 15189, UKAS Lab ID 9329) and a practitioner review of your result. A GP feedback report is available on request, and no GP referral is needed.
A positive antibody result suggests coeliac disease, and your GP can refer you for a gastroscopy to confirm the diagnosis. Please keep eating gluten until any further tests are complete.
A negative result while eating gluten makes coeliac disease unlikely, and your practitioner can suggest what else might explain your symptoms.
You must be eating gluten for the test to work. Eat gluten in more than one meal every day for at least six weeks before your test. No fasting is needed.
The Coeliac Antibody Check is the right first test for most people.
If you have more than one question, a health check often gives better value than single tests.
Our Coeliac Antibody Check costs £99, including the blood draw, Randox laboratory analysis and a practitioner review of your result.
