Dr Murtada Muhsen obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) in 1990 and has practised medicine for the past 30 years in both the NHS and private practice. In 1997, he obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Haematology. He has been a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) since 2007 and the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) since 2009. Dr Murtada has extensive primary care experience gained in his ongoing involvement with Out of Hours (OOH) GP services. In addition, he has a Level 7 Diploma in Clinical Aesthetic Injectable Treatments, the highest vocational qualification available in aesthetic medicine.
Dr Murtada is a dedicated health professional who recognises the principles of good practice anchored on evidence-based medicine, robust clinical governance, and adopting a holistic approach to the treatment and management of chronic pain. This involves a balanced and multi-faceted strategy for delivering effective patient care, combining both medications as a key component with non-pharmacological interventions involving non-invasive, non-addictive physical therapies, counselling, and lifestyle modifications. He is a firm believer in offering patients a choice in how they want to be treated based on their needs and preferences and the motivational aspects of healing by providing patients with evidence of their progress during treatments.
Dr Murtada recognises health screening and assessment as the cornerstone of effective pain management. He advises our team at Omnia on the selection and use of the various health screening techniques employed in the measurement of patient health data points, including standard health checks, body composition, metabolic tests, and mobility assessments. He advises patients on the interpretation of these objective measures, both for the purposes of diagnosis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the treatments that they are undergoing. This unique combination of offering therapies with objective measures of progress and improvement sets Omnia apart from other providers of pain relief and management.
Dr Murtada’s considerable experience and skills in primary patient care, where most people with chronic pain are treated and managed, allow him to be aware of the benefits and limitations of current treatment protocols available under the NHS. He fully believes in and supports Omnia’s holistic approach to offering patients choice in what treatments they are comfortable with and offering lifestyle programmes to help them manage their condition with continuous review and assessment to prevent recurrence and flare-ups.
