Private blood test, Chiswick W4
A six-marker liver function blood test, analysed by Randox and explained to you by a practitioner. No fasting and no GP referral needed.
A liver function test (LFT) measures the enzymes ALT, AST, ALP and GGT, along with bilirubin and albumin. Together they show whether liver cells are under strain, whether bile is flowing normally and how well the liver is making protein.
The Liver Health Check Plus adds ferritin, which can be raised by alcohol, fatty liver or iron overload.
The price includes the blood draw at our clinic, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory (ISO/IEC 15189, UKAS Lab ID 9329) and a practitioner review of your result. A GP feedback report is available on request, and no GP referral is needed.
Raised ALT is most often linked to fatty liver, while a raised GGT is commonly associated with alcohol. The pattern across all six markers matters more than any single number, and mild changes often settle with lifestyle changes.
If a result suggests fatty liver, the FIB-4 score combines your age, ALT, AST and platelet count to estimate the risk of liver scarring and help decide whether further assessment is needed.
No fasting is needed. For the most representative result, avoid heavy drinking and very strenuous exercise for a day or two before your test.
The Liver Function Check covers the standard liver blood test. Add ferritin with the Liver Health Check Plus, or estimate scarring risk with FIB-4.
If you have more than one question, a health check often gives better value than single tests.
Our Liver Function Check costs £49, including the blood draw, Randox laboratory analysis and a practitioner review of your result.
No. A liver function test does not need fasting.
Raised liver enzymes can suggest fatty liver, but they can also be normal in people who have it. The FIB-4 score helps estimate whether there is scarring, and an ultrasound or scan may be suggested by your GP.
Yes. A GP feedback report is available on request for every test. Let us know when you book or at your appointment and we will prepare a report you can share with your GP.
