Typical prices
A short standalone cupping session in the UK is usually £35 to £70 depending on location and practitioner. In London, £45 to £80 is typical. Many clinics do not offer cupping alone, because it works best combined with other techniques, and instead include ten to fifteen minutes of cupping within a 45 to 60 minute acupuncture or massage appointment. Where there is a supplement for adding cupping, it is usually £10 to £20.
What it costs at Omnia
At our Chiswick clinic a dedicated 30-minute cupping session is £60. Cupping is also delivered by our TCM-trained practitioners within a 60-minute acupuncture session (£80) or Tui Na massage (£85) where it fits the treatment plan, which is usually the better value if you need more than cupping alone. If you want cupping specifically, tell us when booking so the session is planned around it.
How many sessions
For muscle tension and soreness, many people feel a difference after one session and use cupping occasionally as needed. For chronic neck or back pain, a course of four to six sessions over a few weeks, combined with acupuncture or manual therapy, is more typical.
What affects value
Training matters more than price. Cupping delivered by someone trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine or a qualified therapist who has completed cupping training is safe and effective; cupping from an untrained provider risks blisters, burns and no benefit. A slightly higher fee for a combined session with a trained practitioner is usually better value than a cheap standalone.
Insurance
Cupping on its own is rarely covered. When it is part of an acupuncture or physiotherapy treatment plan, some policies cover the appointment. Check your policy wording.
