What home devices can do
LED masks, handheld wands and small panels use the same wavelengths as clinical devices, and the better ones have trial data behind them for skin texture and mild acne. Used daily for several months, they can produce modest improvements. The limiting factors are low power, which means long sessions, small treatment areas, and a market full of products whose stated output bears little relation to what they emit.
What they cannot do
A face mask treats a face. It cannot address recovery after training, joint pain in the knees and hips, or whole-body inflammation. Home panels large enough for the body are expensive, and even then deliver a fraction of the irradiance of a clinical pod, so sessions run 30 to 60 minutes rather than 20 and rarely reach the dose used in the trials people cite.
What a clinic system adds
NovoTHOR is a full-body pod with red and near-infrared LEDs on all sides, so every part of the body receives a measured dose at a fixed distance in one 20-minute session. Dose, time and wavelength are controlled and repeatable, which is what the research depends on. THOR Laser adds targeted treatment for a specific injury or joint at a depth that LEDs do not reach. Both are supervised by practitioners who adjust the plan based on how you respond.
Which to choose
For a skin-only goal and plenty of patience, a reputable home mask is a reasonable starting point. For pain, recovery, performance or anything below the surface, clinic treatment is the realistic route. Many of our clients use both: clinic sessions to establish results, a home device to maintain between visits.
