A 78-marker screen for athletes that builds on Sports Performance with IGF-1, an omega-3 index and red cell nutrients, giving the most detailed picture of recovery, energy, hormones and heart health we offer for training.
Sports Performance Plus looks at the markers that shape training, recovery and long-term health. It covers a full blood count for oxygen-carrying capacity, a full iron profile with ferritin, cholesterol with apolipoproteins and hsCRP, glucose and HbA1c, liver and kidney function, electrolytes, bone minerals and a thyroid profile with antibodies.
For training load and recovery, it measures creatine kinase, CK-MB, myoglobin, uric acid and cortisol, plus testosterone, free testosterone, SHBG, LH and DHEA-S. It adds IGF-1, a growth and repair hormone, an omega-3 index, red cell folate, magnesium, zinc, B12, vitamin D and total antioxidant status, with a urinalysis.
Your price includes the sample taken at our Chiswick clinic, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory, a practitioner review of your result and a GP feedback report on request. Your practitioner will read your results with your training and competition schedule in mind.
Athletes often have results that differ from the general population, so context matters. Creatine kinase, myoglobin and CK-MB can rise after hard sessions, ferritin can fall with heavy endurance work, and testosterone can drop with overtraining or low energy intake. Your report shows the laboratory reference range, and your practitioner reads results alongside your training.
CK-MB and myoglobin are heart and muscle markers, and in athletes they usually reflect muscle work. If you ever have chest pain, breathlessness or signs of a clot, call 999 or go to A&E rather than booking a test. A flagged value is a reason to talk things through, not a diagnosis.
Fast for 8 to 10 hours with water only and book a morning appointment, ideally before 10am, for glucose, cortisol and testosterone. Avoid strenuous training for 48 hours beforehand, as it raises muscle markers and can affect others. Stay well hydrated. Pause biotin for two days where safe, and tell us about any supplements. Bring a midstream urine sample.
If you want a lighter option, Sports Performance covers the core training markers. For hormones in more depth, see our testosterone tests. Our hub page shows every blood test and price in Chiswick.

No. Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours beforehand, as it raises muscle markers and can make results harder to read.
Many athletes test at the start of a training block and again before key competitions, often two or three times a year. Your practitioner can advise.
