Typical prices in the UK
Outside London, private physiotherapy is commonly £45 to £70 for a 30 to 45 minute session. In London, £60 to £110 is typical, and appointments in central clinics or with specialist physiotherapists can be more. First appointments are usually longer and cost £10 to £40 more than follow-ups. Some clinics offer 30-minute follow-ups at a lower rate; others keep every session at 45 to 60 minutes.
What it costs at Omnia
Your first physiotherapy appointment at our Chiswick clinic is 70 minutes and costs £99. That includes the full assessment, hands-on treatment on the same day, and your exercise plan. Follow-up session fees and any courses are listed on our physiotherapy page and confirmed when you book. Our physiotherapists are HCPC registered.
How many sessions to budget for
Most people need three to eight sessions, so a realistic budget for a full course is that many times the follow-up price plus the first appointment. Simple problems cost less; rehabilitation after surgery costs more. You should have a clear estimate after the first visit.
Private health insurance
Physiotherapy is one of the most commonly covered treatments. We are recognised by AXA, Vitality, WPA and Aviva. Most policies cap the number of sessions or the annual amount and some require a GP referral first, so check before booking. We provide receipts and reports for claims.
NHS physiotherapy
Free at the point of use and available by GP referral or, in many areas, self-referral. Waiting times range from a couple of weeks to several months and sessions are usually limited in number and length. Many people use private physiotherapy to get started while waiting, or for problems the NHS does not prioritise.
What makes a session good value
Time with the physiotherapist, an assessment that finds the cause, and a plan that reduces the number of sessions you need. The cheapest appointment is rarely the one that gets you better fastest.
