Consultations
An initial Ayurvedic consultation is long, usually 60 to 90 minutes, and in the UK costs £80 to £150 depending on the practitioner's qualifications and location. Consultations with a qualified Ayurvedic doctor are at the upper end. Follow-up consultations of 30 to 45 minutes are typically £50 to £90. Herbal preparations are charged separately, usually £20 to £60 a month.
Therapies
Abhyanga, warm oil massage, is typically £70 to £120 for 60 minutes. Shirodhara is £80 to £130. Combined Abhyanga and Shirodhara sessions and other treatments such as Pinda Sweda or Kati Basti sit in a similar range. Courses of five or more usually reduce the per-session price.
Panchakarma
Outpatient programmes of five to seven days typically cost £600 to £1,500 including therapies and doctor supervision; longer programmes of two to three weeks cost more. Residential programmes abroad are priced differently and are not necessary for most people.
What it costs at Omnia
Our Ayurvedic care in Chiswick is doctor-led, with four Ayurvedic doctors led by the President of the British Ayurvedic Medical Council. Consultation, therapy and programme fees are listed on our Ayurveda page and confirmed when you book. We will not recommend a programme you do not need.
What affects value
Practitioner qualification matters more than in most therapies, because Ayurveda involves herbal prescribing and dietary advice that should be given by someone properly trained. A doctor-led consultation costs more than one with a non-medical practitioner and is worth the difference where herbs or a complex history are involved.
Insurance
Ayurveda is rarely covered by UK private health insurance. Some health cash plans contribute to massage-based therapies. We provide receipts on request.
