Why diet and routine matter in Ayurveda
Ayurveda holds that most imbalance starts with digestion and routine. What you eat, when you eat it, how well you digest it, when you sleep and how you start the day all shape how you feel. Treatments such as oil therapies and herbs help, but if the daily habits that caused the imbalance continue, the benefit does not last. That is why every consultation ends with diet and lifestyle guidance.
What the changes look like
They are personalised to your constitution, or dosha, and your current state. Common recommendations include eating the main meal at midday when digestion is strongest, keeping regular mealtimes, favouring warm, cooked food over cold and raw for some constitutions, reducing foods that aggravate your particular imbalance, and simple routines such as a consistent wake time, morning water, and winding down before sleep. Spices and herbs may be suggested to support digestion.
How much change is realistic
A good practitioner works with your life, not against it. Two or three changes done consistently beat ten done for a week. At Omnia we start with the adjustments most likely to make a difference and build from there, reviewing at follow-up.
Do you have to be vegetarian?
No. Ayurveda has guidance on meat, fish and dairy for different constitutions and seasons, and dietary advice is adapted to what you already eat, your culture and your preferences.
At Omnia
Our Ayurvedic consultations in Chiswick are doctor-led. The dietary and lifestyle plan is written down, explained, and adjusted at follow-up based on how you respond. Where blood tests or body composition analysis would help track change, they are available in the same clinic.
