Wellbeing Screen blood test in Chiswick

A 55-marker blood and urine screen that adds vitamin B12 and folate to a broad check of blood count, heart, blood sugar, liver, kidneys, thyroid, iron and vitamin D, for people who want their key vitamins included.

What the test measures

The Wellbeing Screen combines a wide general health check with the vitamins most often linked to low energy. Alongside vitamin D and ferritin, it measures vitamin B12 and folic acid, both needed to make healthy red blood cells and to support the nervous system.

The remainder of the screen covers a full blood count, cholesterol and triglycerides, glucose and HbA1c, liver and kidney function, electrolytes, bone minerals, a thyroid profile with antibodies, two inflammation markers and CA 125, a tumour-associated marker. A urine dipstick analysis adds a simple check on the kidneys and urinary tract.

Your price includes the sample taken at our Chiswick clinic, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory, a practitioner review of your result and a GP feedback report on request.

Who it is for

  • You often feel tired, low in mood or foggy and want vitamins checked with everything else.
  • You follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, which can make B12 harder to get.
  • You take metformin or acid-reducing medicine long term, both of which can lower B12.
  • You are thinking about pregnancy and want to know your folate status.
  • You want a broad annual check and would rather have nutrients tested at the same visit.

Understanding your result

Results are shown against the laboratory reference range and grouped by system. Low B12 or folate can sit behind tiredness, pins and needles or a raised mean cell volume on the blood count, so your practitioner reads them together. High levels usually reflect supplements rather than a problem.

CA 125 can rise with periods, endometriosis, fibroids and inflammation, and is only ever read alongside a clinical assessment. Any value outside the range is a reason for a conversation, not a diagnosis.

Preparing for your test

Fast for 8 to 10 hours beforehand with water only, as this keeps the glucose and triglyceride readings accurate. If you take B12, folic acid or biotin supplements, try to stop them for two days before your test where it is safe to do so, as they can mask a deficiency or affect some results. Bring a fresh midstream urine sample, or give one when you arrive.

Questions

How much is a Wellbeing Screen in Chiswick?

The Wellbeing Screen is £179, including your blood and urine samples in Chiswick, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory, a practitioner review and a GP feedback report on request.

What is the difference from Standard Screen Plus?

The Wellbeing Screen adds vitamin B12 and folic acid. Everything else in Standard Screen Plus is included.

Can low B12 cause tiredness?

Yes. Low B12 can lead to a type of anaemia and to nerve symptoms, and it is one of several causes of fatigue that your practitioner will consider.

Should I stop my supplements before the test?

If it is safe to do so, pausing B12, folic acid and biotin for two days helps give a truer picture. Do not stop any prescribed medicine without advice.
