Lifestyle Health Screen blood test in Chiswick

A 42-marker blood test covering blood count, cholesterol, blood sugar, liver, kidneys and bone, plus iron, vitamin B12, folate and vitamin D, for a general check with key nutrition markers added.

What the test measures

The Lifestyle Health Screen gives a broad picture of everyday health. A full blood count checks red cells, white cells and platelets, and a cholesterol profile with triglycerides covers heart health. Glucose and HbA1c look at blood sugar, while liver, kidney and bone chemistry, including electrolytes, calcium and phosphate, show how your main organs are working.

It adds a full iron profile with ferritin, transferrin and transferrin saturation, and vitamin B12, folic acid and vitamin D. These nutrients are often behind tiredness, low mood and poor concentration, so including them helps to explain how you feel. Thyroid markers are not included in this screen.

Your price includes the sample taken at our Chiswick clinic, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory, a practitioner review of your result and a GP feedback report on request.

Who it is for

  • You want a broad general check with nutrition markers included.
  • You often feel tired and want iron, B12, folate and vitamin D checked.
  • You have heavy periods and want to see your iron stores and blood count.
  • You follow a vegetarian or vegan diet and want key nutrients tested.
  • You have a family history of heart disease or diabetes and want a baseline.

Understanding your result

Each result is shown against the laboratory reference range, grouped by system. Low ferritin with a low haemoglobin can point to iron deficiency anaemia, while low B12 or folate can enlarge red cells. A raised HbA1c may suggest pre-diabetes, and changes in liver or kidney markers can reflect diet, alcohol, medicines or other factors.

One result just outside the range is common and may simply need rechecking. Anything outside the range is something to discuss with your practitioner rather than a diagnosis.

Preparing for your test

Fast for 8 to 10 hours with water only, as glucose and triglycerides are affected by food, and book a morning appointment for the most consistent iron readings. Stop iron supplements for 24 hours and B12 or folic acid for two days beforehand where safe, so your results reflect your stores rather than a recent dose. Keep taking prescribed medicines.

If you would like thyroid markers added, Advanced GP3 covers this and more, and Omnia Signature is our most complete check. You will find every blood test and price in Chiswick on our hub page.
