Private blood test, Chiswick W4
Specific IgE blood tests for common food and environmental allergens, analysed by Randox and explained to you by a practitioner.
An allergy blood test measures specific IgE, the antibody your immune system makes when it becomes sensitised to an allergen. Our Allergy Essentials Panel checks eight of the most common allergens, including cat, dog, house dust mite, egg, milk, peanut, birch and grass pollen, alongside total IgE.
Larger panels cover hay fever pollens, pets, moulds, foods, or more than sixty allergens at once.
The price includes the blood draw at our clinic, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory (ISO/IEC 15189, UKAS Lab ID 9329) and a practitioner review of your result. A GP feedback report is available on request, and no GP referral is needed.
A positive result shows sensitisation, which means your immune system has made antibodies to that allergen. It does not always mean you will react, so results are always read alongside your history. Your practitioner explains which results matter and what to do next.
If you have had a severe reaction, such as swelling of the throat or difficulty breathing, you should be assessed by an allergy specialist.
No fasting is needed, and you can keep taking antihistamines, as they do not affect blood allergy tests.
Start with the Allergy Essentials Panel, or choose a focused panel if you already suspect a trigger.
Some of our larger health checks include total IgE as a general allergy marker.
Our Allergy Essentials Panel costs £189 and focused panels start from £179, including the blood draw, Randox laboratory analysis and a practitioner review.
