For beginners
The most common barriers for people new to exercise are not knowing what to do, not knowing whether they are doing it right, and feeling watched. The station answers the first two on every repetition and removes the third, since the feedback comes from a screen rather than a room full of people. Programmes begin with bodyweight and mobility exercises and progress only when the data shows you are ready.
For rehabilitation
Rehabilitation exercise depends on doing the right movement, in the right range, without compensating, and building up gradually. Pixformance measures all of that. It shows whether your knee tracks correctly in a squat, whether one side is doing more work than the other, whether range is improving week to week. Your physiotherapist sets the programme and sees the data, so sessions between appointments are supervised in effect even when they are not in person.
Who it suits particularly well
People recovering from knee, hip, shoulder and back injuries or surgery. Older adults working on strength and balance. People returning to exercise after illness, pregnancy or a long break. Anyone who has been told to do exercises at home and has not, because they were unsure.
What to expect at first
An assessment with a physiotherapist, a short introduction to the station, and a first programme of a handful of exercises. Sessions are 30 to 45 minutes. Progress is reviewed against the recorded data at each physiotherapy appointment.
At Omnia
Pixformance at our Chiswick clinic is programmed by our physiotherapists and used within rehabilitation, balance training and the Fitness and Nutrition programme. It is not a gym you are left in; it is a tool within a plan.
