Frequently asked

Is Endermologie safe?

The short answer

Yes. Endermologie is a non-invasive mechanical treatment with no needles, heat or chemicals, and it has been used in clinics for more than 30 years with a very low rate of side effects. Temporary redness and occasional mild bruising are the main ones. It is avoided in pregnancy, over active infection or inflammation, with untreated blood clots and in some medical conditions, which a health screen covers.

How it works and why it is low risk

Endermologie uses motorised rollers and gentle suction through a body suit to mobilise skin and the connective tissue beneath it. Nothing enters the body, nothing is heated, and the pressure is adjustable and controlled by the practitioner. Because the mechanism is mechanical stimulation of tissue, the risks are the same as a firm massage: temporary redness, occasional mild bruising in people who bruise easily, and rarely a feeling of tenderness the next day.

Who should not have it

Pregnancy. Active infection, inflammation or skin conditions in the treatment area. Suspected or untreated deep vein thrombosis, or a history of clotting disorders without medical clearance. Active cancer without medical clearance. Recent surgery until the surgeon approves. People on anticoagulant medication may bruise more and should mention it. Some autoimmune and vascular conditions need a doctor's approval first.

The body suit

Treatment is carried out through a fine, seamless suit that protects the skin and allows the rollers to move smoothly. It is not tight or uncomfortable, and it means no oils or creams are needed.

Practitioner training

Safety depends on correct pressure and technique, particularly over sensitive areas and near lymph nodes. Practitioners using LPG equipment are trained by the manufacturer, and treatment settings are adjusted to your skin and tissue at the assessment.

At Omnia

Every client completes a health screen and tissue assessment before a first session at our Chiswick clinic, which is part of the Discovery Session. If a precaution applies, we will say so and either adapt the treatment or ask you to check with your doctor.
