Clothing
The scanner captures whatever surface it sees, so loose clothing is measured as body. Fitted shorts and a fitted top, or fitted underwear, give the most accurate scan. Sports clothing you can move in is ideal. Wear the same type of clothing each time so scans compare fairly. A private room is provided.
Before the scan
Avoid a large meal in the two hours before, which changes abdominal shape. Empty your bladder. Avoid scanning straight after intense exercise, which changes muscle appearance temporarily. Remove shoes, watch, belt and bulky jewellery. Tie long hair up and off the neck and shoulders.
During the scan
Stand on the marked spot on the platform with your feet slightly apart, arms held slightly away from the body, looking straight ahead. Stay still while the platform rotates once, around 35 seconds. Breathe normally. The camera is infrared and there is no radiation.
Consistency for tracking
Because Styku is used mainly to track change, the same conditions each time matter more than perfect conditions once: same time of day, same clothing, same pre-scan routine. Monthly scans are typical during a programme.
If you are also having an InBody scan
The same preparation applies, with the addition of avoiding alcohol the night before and scanning two to three hours after food for the impedance measurement. The two scans together take under ten minutes.
At Omnia
Scans at our Chiswick clinic are booked in a private room, results are shown to you immediately, and stored for comparison.
