The mechanism
The lymphatic system has no pump of its own. Fluid moves through it when muscles contract, when you breathe deeply and when tissue is compressed. Body Ballancer replaces that missing movement with a controlled, sequential squeeze. Each garment contains many small chambers; they inflate one after another from the extremities inward, so fluid is pushed steadily towards the lymph nodes in the groin and abdomen rather than simply squeezed in place. The pressure is gentle and adjustable, and the overlapping chamber design avoids the fluid being trapped between segments, which was a limitation of older pneumatic compression systems.
What happens during a session
You lie on a treatment couch wearing the leg garments and, if being treated, the abdominal wrap over light clothing. The system runs a programme of inflation cycles for 30 to 45 minutes. Most people describe it as a firm, rhythmic massage and find it deeply relaxing. There is no downtime.
What it does
Moves accumulated tissue fluid, so legs feel lighter and less puffy. Improves circulation. Reduces post-exercise soreness and heaviness, which is why it is widely used in sport. Supports lymphatic drainage between manual sessions. Eases bloating that is fluid-related.
What it does not do
Remove fat, detoxify or treat cellulite. The change in shape after a session is fluid and is temporary without repetition.
Safety
Compression therapy is not used where there is untreated deep vein thrombosis, acute infection, heart failure or certain other conditions, which we screen for. It is safe for most people and often used after surgery with the surgeon's agreement.
At Omnia
Body Ballancer at our Chiswick clinic can be booked alone or combined with manual lymphatic drainage, LPG Endermologie and red light therapy.
