Nutrition and lifestyle DNA test in Chiswick

The Nutrition and Lifestyle DNA Test looks at genetic variants associated with how your body responds to food, exercise and daily habits, helping you and your practitioner personalise diet and lifestyle choices.

What the test measures

Your DNA contains small, common differences called variants. Research has linked some of these variants to traits such as how the body handles certain nutrients, how it responds to different types of exercise, and tendencies around weight and appetite. This test analyses a selected set of these variants from a single blood sample.

Unlike most blood tests, the result reflects something that does not change over your lifetime. It does not measure your current vitamin levels, cholesterol or blood sugar. Instead, it adds a layer of background information that your practitioner can bring together with your goals, your medical history and any other test results.

The price includes your sample taken at our Chiswick clinic, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory, a review of your result with an Omnia practitioner, and a GP feedback report on request.

Who it is for

  • You want diet and exercise advice that takes your own genetic background into account.
  • You have tried several eating plans and would like more context for what may suit you.
  • You are working with an Omnia practitioner on a longer term wellbeing programme.
  • You are curious about your genetics and want the findings explained clearly and in proportion.
  • You prefer a one-off test that you will not need to repeat.

Understanding your result

Your report lists the variants tested and the trait each has been associated with, usually describing a likely tendency rather than a certainty. Most of these variants have small individual effects, and lifestyle, environment and other genes often matter more than any single result. A finding is a starting point for discussion, not a diagnosis or a prediction of illness.

Genetic results are best discussed with your practitioner and, where a finding raises health questions, a genetic counsellor or specialist. A result that shows no notable variants does not remove all risk, because the test only covers a selected set of genes.

Preparing for your test

No fasting or special preparation is needed, and the time of day does not matter because your DNA is the same in every sample. You can take your usual medicines and supplements. If you have had a bone marrow transplant or a recent blood transfusion, tell us when you book, as this can affect genetic testing.

To pair your genetic background with your current levels, the Nutritional and Digestive Health check or the Standard Screen measure what is happening in your blood now. Our hub page lists every blood test and price in Chiswick if you want to weigh up alternatives.

Questions

How much is a nutrition and lifestyle DNA test in Chiswick?

The Nutrition and Lifestyle DNA Test costs £279 at our Chiswick clinic. This includes the blood sample, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory, a practitioner review of your report and a GP feedback report on request.

Will it tell me the perfect diet for me?

No test can do that. The result adds genetic context to choices you make with your practitioner, alongside your preferences, health and other results.

Do I need to repeat it?

No. Your genetic variants do not change, so one test is enough. What can change is how the findings are interpreted as research develops.

Can it tell me if I will develop a disease?

This test is designed around nutrition and lifestyle traits, not disease diagnosis. It cannot tell you whether you will develop a particular condition, and any health concerns are best raised with your GP or a specialist.
