The Basic Health Screen covers your blood count, liver, kidneys, cholesterol, glucose, bone minerals and inflammation in 34 markers, giving a simple, low-cost baseline of your general health.
This screen brings together the markers most often used in a routine health check. The full blood count looks for anaemia, infection-related changes and platelet levels. A cholesterol profile with triglycerides and the cholesterol ratio looks at heart risk, and glucose gives a snapshot of blood sugar.
Liver markers, including ALT, AST, ALP, GGT, bilirubin and albumin, show how the liver is coping. Kidney markers include creatinine, urea and the estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), along with the electrolytes sodium, potassium and chloride. Phosphate supports bone health, and standard and high sensitivity CRP look for inflammation.
The price includes your sample taken at our Chiswick clinic, analysis at the Randox accredited laboratory, a review of your result with an Omnia practitioner, and a GP feedback report on request.
Your report shows each result against the laboratory reference range. Patterns are often more useful than single values. For example, raised GGT and ALT together may point towards the liver being under strain from alcohol, weight or medicines, while a low eGFR with raised creatinine suggests reduced kidney filtration that is usually rechecked.
A slightly raised cholesterol or glucose result is common and is best read with your age, weight, blood pressure and family history. A result outside the range is a prompt for discussion, not a diagnosis, and your practitioner will highlight anything that may need follow-up with your GP.
Please fast for 8 to 12 hours before your appointment, drinking water only, so that glucose and triglycerides can be read accurately. A morning appointment is easiest. Avoid alcohol and very strenuous exercise for 24 to 48 hours beforehand, as both can affect liver and muscle related markers, and keep taking any prescribed medicines unless your doctor says otherwise.
If you would like more detail, Advanced GP2 adds vitamins, iron and thyroid, and Advanced GP3 goes further still. Our full catalogue covers every blood test and price in Chiswick.
The Basic Health Screen costs £69 at our Chiswick clinic. This includes your blood sample, analysis of all 34 markers at the Randox accredited laboratory, a practitioner review and a GP feedback report on request.
No. It focuses on blood count, heart, blood sugar, liver, kidneys and inflammation. Thyroid, iron and vitamin markers are included in our wider screens.
Yes, ideally for 8 to 12 hours with water only, so that glucose and triglyceride results are reliable.
Once a year is a common rhythm for a general baseline. Your practitioner may suggest repeating particular markers sooner if a result needs checking.
